ADVANCING EPISTEMIC INTEGRITY

Every institution. No exemptions. The same standard applied everywhere it needs to be applied — without protection and without apology.

Nullius in verba. Take no one's word for it.

The Standard

In 1660 the Royal Society adopted a founding commitment: Nullius in verba. Take no man's word for it. Newton described gravity with more precision than anyone before him and explicitly refused to claim he knew what it was. That standard — honest examination against verifiable evidence, without deference to authority — is the standard Touchward Institute applies to information, to institutions, and to the beliefs people carry without knowing they chose them. The institution that revolt built eventually became its own appeal to authority. That is the compensation pattern completing its cycle. The standard does not exempt the institutions that originally held it.

The standard is the standard.
It does not bend for anyone.

The System

Incentive structures do not just reward bad behavior — they recruit for it. A system that monetizes attention, outrage, and manufactured certainty does not merely tolerate people willing to manufacture those things. Over time, it selects for them. Readers and citizens were never given the tools to evaluate what was being done to them. Fact-checkers verify individual claims as true or false — valuable, but incomplete. An article can be composed entirely of true statements and still be designed to mislead. Bias detectors flag ideological lean — also valuable, but also incomplete. Knowing that a source leans left or right tells you something about perspective. It tells you nothing about whether the reasoning is sound, whether the uncertainty is honestly acknowledged, or whether the strongest counterarguments are being engaged with fairly. What has been missing is a framework for evaluating information quality itself — and equally, the inner tools for evaluating how much of what a person believes was genuinely chosen and how much was accumulated through environments designed to shape it. Touchward Institute exists to build friction against that system. Both gaps. Simultaneously.

The standard doesn't ask which direction an argument leans. It asks whether the argument followed the evidence honestly.

The Work

Three instruments. One standard. Applied without protection in two directions — outward toward information, inward toward belief.

DOKSIS

INFORMATION QUALITY SCORING

Doksis scores any article against the MTIS 3.0 framework — six dimensions of information quality plus two qualitative dimensions no numerical score can fully capture: whether the piece shows signs of genuine open-ended investigation, and whether the evidence appears to have led the conclusion or the conclusion appears to have led the evidence. Four verdicts. One standard. No institutional exemptions.

IDEOLYSIS

A PERSONAL INNER CLARITY PRACTICE

Ideolysis helps you find out which of your beliefs are actually yours — through a personal conversational practice that surfaces what was inherited, what was installed, and what was never examined. The Foundation

Touchward Institute operates from a documented civic framework — twenty principles for epistemic integrity in public life, organized into four layers.

L1

Behavioral

Principles 1–5

How individuals must treat one another in direct engagement. Reciprocity. Proportionality. Honesty. Non-aggression. Voluntary association.

L2

Systemic

Principles 6–11

How institutions must be structured to remain trustworthy and resist capture. Accountability. Transparency. Separation of powers. Subsidiarity. Due process. Legitimate conflict resolution.

L3

Epistemic & Temporal

Principles 12–15

The principles that operate on a longer horizon and at the level of culture rather than law. Cognitive humility. Freedom of conscience. Intergenerational obligation. Institutional memory.

L4

Foundational & Civilizational

Principles 16–20

The conditions that make all other principles possible — invisible when healthy, catastrophic when lost. Rule of law. Dignity as axiom. Economic freedom floor. Freedom of expression. Defense of the framework itself.

These twenty principles are procedural rather than substantive. They do not prescribe outcomes. They describe the rules of engagement that make legitimate outcomes possible. They apply symmetrically — to the powerful and the powerless, to majorities and minorities, to governments and individuals. A principle that only protects you when your side holds power is not a principle. It is a preference.

The full framework is forthcoming.

The Cost

Every tool on this site exists because systems fail people and no one inside the system is required to account for it.

The information environment most people navigate was not designed to help them think clearly. It was designed to capture their attention, confirm their priors, and monetize their certainty. That is not a moral failing of individuals working inside it. It is a design problem — one with real consequences for everyone trying to understand the world well enough to participate in it honestly.

Touchward Institute exists because the burden of that design lands on specific people. People who trusted institutions that optimized for something other than their interests. People who went looking for better information and found a different market selling the same certainty in different packaging. People who had the feeling first — that something didn't add up — and were talked out of it by credentialed voices and social cost.

This work is for them. The standard is the standard. It does not bend.
